Multiple DMARC records (MULTIPLE_DMARC_RECORDS)

More than one DMARC record exists at _dmarc on your domain, so receivers ignore DMARC. Learn how to keep a single valid record.

What it means

More than one TXT record starting with v=DMARC1 was found at _dmarc.<domain>.

Why it matters for sending

Under RFC 7489, when the DMARC lookup returns more than one record, receivers must treat the domain as having no DMARC policy. Your intended policy and reporting are ignored.

How to fix it

  1. List every TXT record at _dmarc.<domain>.
  2. Decide which policy (p=), reporting addresses (rua=) and options you want.
  3. Keep exactly one record containing all of them and delete the rest.
  4. Re-run the DMARC checker.

Example record

_dmarc.example.com.  TXT  "v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc@example.com"
