MX record missing (MX_MISSING)

Your domain has no MX record, so it cannot receive replies or bounces. Learn how to add the MX records from your mail provider.

What it means

No MX record was found for the domain, so there is no published server to receive mail for it.

Why it matters for sending

Cold email depends on receiving replies and bounce notifications at the sending address. Without MX records, replies can fail, and receivers may view a domain that cannot receive mail as a weaker sender.

How to fix it

  1. Copy the MX records from your mail provider’s setup instructions (for example smtp.google.com for Google Workspace, or the <domain>.mail.protection.outlook.com host shown in Microsoft 365).
  2. Add them at the root of the domain with the priorities the provider gives and remove MX records for providers you no longer use.
  3. Send a test email to the address and confirm it arrives.
  4. Re-run the deliverability checker.
