Sending volume
How Many Cold Emails Can You Send Per Day?
Calculate a practical cold email daily volume from mailbox capacity, list quality and provider constraints—not a universal magic number.

There is no universally safe daily cold-email number. Set a conservative limit for each established mailbox, increase only when bounce and complaint signals stay healthy, and keep provider limits as hard ceilings—not operating targets.
Start with mailbox-level capacity
A campaign limit and a mailbox limit are different. If four eligible mailboxes are each configured for 30 campaign emails per day, the theoretical campaign capacity is 120 per day. Send windows, pauses, provider throttling and suppression checks can make actual throughput lower.
New or recently changed mailboxes deserve lower limits and gradual, observed increases. A provider allowing a large number of messages does not mean that sending that number of unsolicited messages is prudent.
Use realistic campaign math
For 1,000 prospects, four mailboxes at 30 emails per day provide 120 daily first-touch slots. That is about nine sending days before follow-ups compete for capacity. A three-step sequence can require as many as 3,000 total sends if nobody replies or becomes ineligible.
- Count follow-ups in total demand.
- Reserve capacity for normal human email.
- Pause on unusual bounce, complaint or throttle signals.
- Remove unsubscribed and invalid recipients before queueing.
A practical operating rule
Choose a per-mailbox limit from account age, normal activity, audience quality and provider feedback. Review results by mailbox rather than hiding them inside a campaign average. MailQV can distribute eligible work across selected sending accounts while respecting each mailbox’s configured daily limit.
Frequently asked questions
Is 100 cold emails per day safe?
Not automatically. One mailbox sending 100 messages has a different risk profile from several established mailboxes sending smaller, controlled amounts.
Do follow-ups count toward daily volume?
Yes. Every follow-up consumes sending capacity and belongs in campaign-duration estimates.
